Ukraine eyes Moroccan workers to ease wartime labor shortage
DR

Ukraine is considering recruiting foreign workers, including Moroccans, particularly for the construction and logistics sectors, as the country faces a severe labor shortage caused by the war with Russia, ongoing since February 2022.

According to Ukrainian media reports, the list of countries whose citizens could benefit from facilitated recruitment procedures includes around 70 nations, among them Morocco, Egypt, Pakistan, and Bangladesh.

The initiative comes as Ukraine struggles with a demographic crisis and a labor shortage estimated at around two million workers, after the population in areas controlled by Kyiv dropped to approximately 25 million people.

Ukrainian authorities have emphasized that the recruitment of foreign workers would remain limited and that Ukrainian citizens would continue to receive priority in the labor market.
