A video posted by controversial Moroccan YouTuber Ayoub Bn Nsns has sparked widespread outrage on social media after showing him handling a dog's carcass, skinning it, roasting it and presenting it as an «Eid al-Adha sacrifice». The footage was widely condemned by social media users and animal rights groups, who described it as shocking and contrary to the values of compassion and respect for animals.
In response to the backlash, three animal welfare organizations filed a complaint with the King’s Prosecutor at the Court of First Instance in Tetouan, calling for an investigation and appropriate legal action against those responsible.
The complaint was submitted by the Al Rahma Association for the Care of Stray Dogs in M’diq, the Al Amal Association for Animal Welfare in Tetouan, and the Mizan Al Rahma wal Adala Association for the Defense of Animals in Tetouan.
Commenting on the case, Mohamed Amziane, president of the Al Rahma Association for the Care of Stray Dogs, said the organizations were deeply shocked by the incident, arguing that the video «reveals a dangerous level of detachment from human values».
Amziane said the associations were particularly disturbed by the attempt to associate such behavior with Eid al-Adha, stressing that «Eid al-Adha does not symbolize brutality or abuse of animals, but rather embodies values of solidarity and spiritual devotion within a framework of mercy and respect».
«Violence against animals can extend to humans»
«Violence directed against animals, whether living or dead, is an indicator of a tendency that may carry over into other forms of violence, potentially targeting humans themselves. The video documents a complete absence of empathy or compassion and projects a negative image of society», Amziane said.
The organizations behind the complaint called on the authorities to open an urgent investigation and take whatever legal measures they deem appropriate.
Following the wave of criticism from social media users and rights activists, Bn Nsns posted a clarification on his social media accounts before deleting the controversial video. He denied killing the dog, claiming he had found it dead by the roadside after it had been struck by a vehicle.
«Stop saying I slaughtered it; everything is documented», he wrote. The statement also included references to his personal struggles.
Bn Nsns is known for producing content built around controversial challenges and adventures, particularly in forests and remote areas, where he documents unusual experiences designed to attract views and engagement.
Several of his videos have generated controversy in recent years, including clips showing him eating insects and others in which he claimed to have found chickens near shrines believed to be linked to sorcery rituals before proceeding to eat them. He has also posted videos of himself cooking various animals, including a large rat and a scorpion, as well as one in which he asked someone to bury him alive as part of a challenge featured on his channel.
