Six arrested, including a minor, over alleged sexual assault of woman in Beni Mellal

Judicial police officers in Beni Mellal, in coordination with the services of the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance, arrested six people on Tuesday morning, including a 16-year-old minor, on suspicion of involvement in the sexual assault of a woman.

According to initial investigations, the 32-year-old victim filed a complaint stating that she had met one of the suspects through a mobile application and later met him in the city of Beni Mellal. He then allegedly lured her to a rural area on the outskirts of the city, where she was sexually assaulted with the participation of the other detainees.

Intensive police investigations made it possible to identify the suspects and arrest them in separate locations in the rural area of Ouled Yaïch. Officers also seized two motorcycles allegedly used to facilitate the commission of the crime.

The adult suspects have been placed in police custody, while the minor has been placed under supervision, pending the judicial investigation overseen by the competent public prosecutor’s office to determine the full circumstances of the case.
