Two Italian nurses saved the life of a 13-month-old infant after he suffered severe respiratory arrest aboard a direct flight from the Italian city of Bergamo to Marrakech.
The nurses, Riccardo Marchetto and Ilaria Valentini, intervened immediately after the cabin crew issued an emergency call when the child suddenly fell ill, according to Italian media reports.
According to the available information, the infant’s family suspected he was suffering from an airway obstruction, possibly caused by a fever-related seizure. After assessing his condition, the two nurses began pediatric first aid and resuscitation procedures, including clearing his airways and performing the necessary resuscitation.
Within minutes of their intervention, the child was able to breathe again, sparing him potentially life-threatening complications. Upon the aircraft’s arrival at Marrakech Airport, medical teams took charge of the infant and transferred him for further examinations and necessary treatment.
