Podemos MEP Isa Serra has called on Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez to condemn the Moroccan drone strike that targeted members of the Polisario militias two days ago as they were reportedly preparing to launch projectiles toward the western side of Morocco’s sand wall. She also urged him to sever relations with Rabat «once and for all».
«This is extremely serious. The Moroccan dictatorship is killing Sahrawis in order to continue the occupation», Serra said, according to Europa Press. Her comments came after three Polisario members were killed, including Lahbib Mohamed Abdelaziz, a member of the Front’s secretariat and son of the late Polisario leader Mohamed Abdelaziz.
Serra accused Morocco of «learning from its friend Israel and feeling the same sense of impunity as Israeli terrorism», adding that Pedro Sánchez should «not only condemn this attack, but immediately cut ties with Morocco».
Enrique Santiago, an MP from the Sumar alliance and parliamentary spokesperson for the United Left party, also condemned what he described as an «assassination» carried out by drones, saying such tactics were «commonly used by Israel».
The Polisario Front announced two days ago that three of its members had been killed, including Lahbib Mohamed Abdelaziz. According to the Front, he died while «leading attacks against positions of the Moroccan occupation forces».
