Hours before Morocco's World Cup opener against Brazil, Dutch far-right politician Geert Wilders took to social media with yet another post targeting Morocco and Islam.

Wilders, leader of the Dutch Party for Freedom (PVV), reacted on X to a photo showing Moroccan players praying together on the pitch after a goal celebration. Alongside the image, he posted a two-word message insulting Allah, triggering a wave of criticism and bewildered reactions online.

The timing of the post drew particular attention, coming just ahead of Morocco's opening World Cup match and during what was a celebratory moment for many Dutch citizens of Moroccan origin.

It was not the first time Wilders had sparked controversy around Moroccan football. Earlier this year, following Morocco's defeat to Senegal in the Africa Cup of Nations final, he posted the word «wollah» accompanied by a Senegalese flag immediately after the final whistle.

Anti-Islam rhetoric has long been a hallmark of Wilders' political discourse.
