Morocco ranks 66th worldwide in the use of Claude, the generative AI model developed by Anthropic, according to the latest Anthropic Economic Index, which tracks how individuals and businesses use the platform across 121 countries.
The index measures each country's usage relative to what would be expected based on its population size, classifying markets into four categories: leaders, above average, below average and emerging.
Morocco falls within the average usage category, ranking between Kuwait (65th) and Malaysia (67th). In the Middle East and North Africa region, Tunisia ranks 47th, followed by Morocco, while Algeria places 82nd and Egypt 98th.
The index is based on anonymized user conversations and measures how AI is used across different economic sectors and professional activities. It distinguishes between cases where users rely on Claude as an assistant and those where they delegate tasks to the AI entirely.
Globally, the sectors making the greatest use of Claude are computer science and mathematics, followed by arts, design and media, and education and libraries. The report also categorizes conversations according to whether they relate to work, personal use or education.
In Morocco, the most common uses of Claude include homework assistance, writing personal profile texts, developing website front-end interfaces, drafting marketing copy, designing presentations and helping launch business ventures.
By profession, computer science and mathematics account for the largest share of Claude-related conversations in Morocco, at 25.6%, followed by education and libraries (15.6%) and arts, design, entertainment, sports and media (13.2%). Sales represents 7.3% of conversations, while management accounts for 5.4%.
