Spain arrests French murder suspect fleeing to Morocco

Spanish National Police in the city of Almería have arrested a man wanted by French authorities on suspicion of involvement in a fatal shooting that took place on June 14 in Montbéliard, as he was attempting to flee to Morocco.

His arrest came just three days after the crime, thanks to swift security coordination between Spain and France, which enabled authorities to track his movements and identify his destination as one of Almería’s ports, from where he intended to leave the Schengen Area.

French investigators believe the killing was a settling of scores linked to drug trafficking. During a search of the suspect’s home, officers also found blue latex gloves believed to have been used in carrying out the crime.
