The Miss England 2019, a beauty pageant in England, is all about diversity this year. The contest’s finalists for this season include women with different backgrounds. One of the contestants competing for the title is a Muslim woman who will be wearing a «burkini» in the competition’s swimsuit round, the Daily Mail reports.
During the finals, which will be held Thursday in Newcastle, these women will be parading bare-faced on the catwalk, and will later share their inspiring stories.
Aysha, who is a Muslim finalist at Miss England, said that she would show up wearing a burkini at the optional swimsuit round.
«I want to embrace the Muslim traditions of covering skin, which is why I designed my 'burkini' to wear in the Beach Beauty Final», she said.
Aysha is not the only finalist that is making a difference at the competition, as it includes a farmer, the sister of a famous footballer, a anti-bullying ambassador, an ex-heroin addict and a woman who was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis.
