The Forbes Middle East magazine launched the second annual edition of its list of women entrepreneurs who have created brands and have succeeded in attracting the attention of costumers and investors. Entitled «Women Behind Middle Eastern Brands», the list features two Moroccan women.
The first one is Salwa Akhannouch, the wife of Morocco’s agriculture minister and businessman, Aziz Akhannouch. The businesswoman launched her cosmetics brand Yan & One in 2017. According to Forbes, many celebrities use the products of this brand. The magazine also recalls that Salwa Akhannouch is also CEO and founder of the Aksal group.
The list also includes Moroccan businesswoman Mouna Abbassy. Based in the United Arab Emirates, she created her brand IZIL Beauty in Dubai in 2012. Forbes Middle East recalls that last year, Mouna Abbassy set up her own beauty products factory in Ras Al Khaimah.
Iraqi-American Huda Kattan tops the list of «Women Behind Middle Eastern Brands», with her brand Huda Beauty, which has the support of more than 46 million followers on Instagram.
The fashion sector makes up 42% of the list, with 17 businesswomen, led by fashion designer Reem Akra. The jewelry sector is in second place, with 9 brands managed by women from the region, headed by the Egyptian Azza Fahmy.
