After the city of Laayoune joined the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities (GNLC), the Polisario could not hide its rejection of the decision.

In a statement released, Thursday, the separatist movement described the UNIESCO’s decision as a «provocative step» and urged the UN agency to «take the necessary measures and correct the unjustified mistake to preserve its credibility and impartiality».

It is not the first time that the Braim Ghali movement issues similar statements whenever a city in the Sahara hosts an international event.

The Front rejects the organization of the Crans Montana Forum in Dakhla. The same reaction was recorded in July when Dakhla was set to house the headquarters of the Africa Network of Francophone Houses.
