The Justice and Development Party (PJD) has sharply criticized the Moroccan government, relying on a controversial ranking from Numbeo, despite previous warnings from the Ministry of Health about the site’s reliability. The move raises questions about the PJD’s selective use of data, especially given that the party itself had once denounced Numbeo’s methodology while in power.
Moroccan and Arab media outlets, along with political and academic institutions, have increasingly cited data from Numbeo, a Serbian website. However, concerns exist about the website's methodology, as it relies on user-submitted information without verification.
Even after the Moroccan government had stressed that the conclusions reached by Numbeo «lack rigor, credibility and scientific methodology», Moroccan media continue to relay its rankings, mostly based on a few hundred internet users on social media.
