31.21.وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ اتَّبِعُوا مَا أَنزَلَ اللَّهُ قَالُوا بَلْ نَتَّبِعُ مَا وَجَدْنَا عَلَيْهِ آبَاءنَا أَوَلَوْ كَانَ الشَّيْطَانُ يَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَى عَذَابِ السَّعِيرِ

31.21. Et lorsqu'on leur dit : «Suivez ce que Dieu a révélé !» Ils rétorquent : «Non, nous suivons plutôt ce que nos ancêtres nous ont légué !» Quoi ! S'obstineraient-ils à les suivre, même si le démon les conviait au supplice de l'Enfer?

31.21 . And if it be said unto them : Follow that which Allah hath revealed , they say : Nay , but we follow that wherein we found our fathers . What! Even though the devil were inviting them unto the doom of flame?

31.21. Wa-itha qeela lahumu ittabiAAoo ma anzala Allahu qaloo bal nattabiAAu ma wajadna AAalayhi abaana awa law kana alshshaytanu yadAAoohum ila AAathabi alssaAAeeri

31.22.وَمَن يُسْلِمْ وَجْهَهُ إِلَى اللَّهِ وَهُوَ مُحْسِنٌ فَقَدِ اسْتَمْسَكَ بِالْعُرْوَةِ الْوُثْقَى وَإِلَى اللَّهِ عَاقِبَةُ الْأُمُورِ

31.22. Quiconque se soumet à Dieu, tout en s'appliquant à faire le bien, se sera assuré la position la plus solide, car c'est de Dieu que dépend l'issue de toute chose.

31.22 . Whosoever surrendereth his purpose to Allah while doing good , he verily hath grasped the firm hand hold . Unto Allah belongeth the sequel of all things .

31.22. Waman yuslim wajhahu ila Allahi wahuwa muhsinun faqadi istamsaka bialAAurwati alwuthqa wa-ila Allahi AAaqibatu al-omoori

31.23.وَمَن كَفَرَ فَلَا يَحْزُنكَ كُفْرُهُ إِلَيْنَا مَرْجِعُهُمْ فَنُنَبِّئُهُم بِمَا عَمِلُوا إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَلِيمٌ بِذَاتِ الصُّدُورِ

31.23. Que l'impiété des incrédules ne t'afflige point ! C'est vers Nous que se fera leur retour et Nous les mettrons alors en face de leurs actes, car Dieu connaît parfaitement ce que recèlent les cœurs.

31.23 . And whosoever disbelieveth , let not his disbelief afflict thee ( O Muhammad ) . Unto Us is their return , and We shall tell them what they did . Lo! Allah is Aware of what is in the breasts ( of men ) .

31.23. Waman kafara fala yahzunka kufruhu ilayna marjiAAuhum fanunabbi-ohum bima AAamiloo inna Allaha AAaleemun bithati alssudoori

31.24.نُمَتِّعُهُمْ قَلِيلاً ثُمَّ نَضْطَرُّهُمْ إِلَى عَذَابٍ غَلِيظٍ

31.24. Nous les laisserons se divertir pendant quelque temps, puis Nous les contraindrons à subir d'immenses tourments.

31.24 . We give them comfort for a little , and then We drive them to a heavy doom .

31.24. NumattiAAuhum qaleelan thumma nadtarruhum ila AAathabin ghaleethin

31.25.وَلَئِن سَأَلْتَهُم مَّنْ خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ لَيَقُولُنَّ اللَّهُ قُلِ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ بَلْ أَكْثَرُهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ

31.25. Si jamais tu leur demandes qui a créé les Cieux et la Terre, ils répondront sûrement : «C'est Dieu !» Dis-leur alors : «Gloire à Dieu !» Mais, hélas !, la plupart des hommes ne savent pas reconnaître leurs erreurs.

31.25 . If thou shouldst ask them : Who created the heavens and the earth? they would answer : Allah . Say : Praise be to Allah! But most of them know not .

31.25. Wala-in saaltahum man khalaqa alssamawati waal-arda layaqoolunna Allahu quli alhamdu lillahi bal aktharuhum la yaAAlamoona
