Hobbies in Tangier

Hi,

I moved to tangier about a year ago and while the city is beautiful, I'm having a hard time to find the right places to explore my interests. I was hoping to join a bookclub, pickup volleyball, take vocal lessons or a creative writing course, but I just can't seem to find any places/groups to do so.
The city seems to be lacking in cultural/art centers (except those meant for kids and teens). Not sure if that is actually the case or if I'm not looking in the right places.
Does anyone know if there are such places in Tangier?

Thanks,

Salam,

You'll find few facebook and whatsapp groups, you might chek with this reading club, or this.
Depending on the targetted language, you might also check with foreign institutes and librairies (Institut français de Tanger, British Council Tangier, American language Center, Instituto Cervantes de Tanger ...). You can also visit Le Centre culturel Ahmed Boukmakh, not sure it hosts any, but you might find related announcements and contacts.

For pickup volleyball, check with the club Ittihad de Tanger although it cares primarily with competition, it used some years ago to share the venues with some private groups. At least they can redirect you to contacts they have in their schedules, hopefully.

(It is maybe worth considering switching to football for much more choices smiling smiley )

Thanks! I'll definitely take a look at the bookclubs.
Itihad did pop up in my search before, but as you mentionned they're interested in competitive/promissing young talent.
I'm not really into football and the clubs are mostly restricted to males. I might consider tennis though as I came by a club or 2 online.
I still think that Tangier, for it's size and population, is lacking a lot in this area. Hopefully this will change in the future.
