The Marrakech legendary hotel La Mamounia is expected to open its doors on October 16 after months of renovations. Two new restaurants, run by internationally renowned chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, will also open within the hotel.
«La Mamounia will reopen its doors on October 16, 2020 with new services and new atmospheres but the same soul».
A press release states that «the rooms and public spaces have been modernized with a new contemporary concept, while retaining the traditional charm of the grand hotel», all under the direction of Parisian interior designers Patrick Jouin and Sanjit Manku.
For the record, eleven years ago, the historic hotel was completely renovated by the internationally renowned interior designer Jacques Garcia.
The hotel, opened in 1923, has 136 rooms, 71 suites, including seven-star suites; three riads with lounges and private swimming pools; five bars, four restaurants and a spa, among other services.
In December, OCP, ONCF and the Hassan II Fund announced the creation of a national hotel cluster in order to «promote high-end hotel excellence, a showcase of Moroccan heritage and know-how, at the service of the attractiveness of the country and its international reputation».
The establishment was cited in the list of public enterprises that the government wishes to privatize.
