The Moroccan authorities granted upstream gas company Sound Energy PLC, Tuesday, a two-year extension for its onshore Sidi Mokhtar permit following disruptions caused by Covid-19, London South East reported.

The permit, which was initially limited to two years and six months, has been extended until around October 2022, the same source added.

«The Sidi Mokhtar permits cover 4,712 square kilometers in the Essaouira basin in central Morocco», the same source explained.

For the record, Sound Energy «holds an operated 75% position in the permits with the remaining 25% held by the state-owned Office National des Hydrocarbures et des Mines», London South East concluded.
