Responding to the increasing number of coronavirus infections in Oujda-Angad, an urban prefecture located within the Oriental Region in the northeast Morocco, authorities have decided to impose a series of restrictive measures starting from Wednesday, October 21.
The decision was announced, Monday, during a meeting attended by the members of a Covid-19 monitoring committee.
As a result, all shops and services will open from six in the morning until 8 in the evening. In addition to that, a night curfew will be imposed from 9 pm to 5 am. Weekly markets will be banned and local ones will have to close by 3 pm.
The authorities have also decided to reduce the capacity of public baths, hairdressing salons and that of public transportation means to 50%, while closing gardens, gyms and banning gatherings that exceed ten people.
On the other hand, Chefchaouen will also close weekly markets and replace them with local markets which will open from 8 am to 6 pm. The city's cafes and restaurants will now close their doors at 9 pm.
The decisions have been in force since Monday, October 19, and are expected to last for 15 days. This period may get expended, depending on the epidemiological situation in Chefchaouen.
