American aerostructures manufacturer Spirit Aerosystems has concluded the acquisition of Bombardier’s unit in Casablanca, the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Green and Digital Economy announced.
«As announced in October 2019, a final agreement was signed by Bombardier and Spirit Aerosystems and will come into effect on October 30», the ministry said in a statement released on Monday.
The ministry and Spirit Aerosystems remained in constant contact and worked together to conclude the agreement; after Bombardier said that it is selling its Morocco and Northern Ireland facility in an attempt to consolidate its aerospace business into a single hub.
The Bombardier site in Casablanca has undergone an extension increasing its surface area from 10,000m2 to 25,000m2 and increasing its workforce from 350 to 850 employees, the press release said, noting that the challenge for Spirit Aerosystems is to develop its activities with Airbus, to continue supplying Boeing.
