Moroccan women detained in Iraqi and Syrian prisons called on King Mohammed VI to intervene to repatriate them to Morocco, in a series of letters received by the National Coordination of the families of detainees and Moroccans stranded in Syria and Iraq.

According to Al3omk, these Moroccan women spoke about their situation and «the injustice of which they were victims», proclaiming their «innocence of any crime or affiliation to a terrorist organization».

According to the Coordination, A.R., aged 24 and detained in a prison in Iraq with her two-year-old daughter, called on «King Mohammed VI to help repatriate [her] to [her] beloved country». «We are tortured a lot here and the conditions are deplorable», she said, referring to hunger and malnutrition.

This Moroccan also reports that the prison administration intends to separate her from her daughter, who would be placed in an orphanage. She added that Moroccan women detained or stranded in Iraq or Syria are «victims» of their husbands who have been «betrayed». She also claims to have «no connection» with extremist organizations and does not adopt their ideologies.

The National Coordination of Families of Detainees and Moroccans Stranded in Syria and Iraq also says it has received other letters from Moroccans who remain stranded in northern Syria calling on the sovereign to intervene so that they are repatriated to the country.
