The Prix Versailles has recognized a Marrakech hotel and restaurant in 2020. The winners are Oberoi, a hotel designed by Collier & Partners Architectes and Marrakech-based restaurant Ronsad, designed by Gil Dez.

The two Morocco facilities are considered continental winners of the Prix Versailles 2020, which allows them to run for the world titles, organizers said.

The continental winners, including Oberoi and Ronsad, were awarded based on «70 recent projects, each of them a testimonial to extraordinary architecture and design, are tributes to the retail and hospitality sectors».

The Prix Versailles in France rewards the most beautiful boutiques and stores, shopping centers, hotels and restaurants in the world. The awards are spread over six regions: Africa and West Asia, Central America, South and the Caribbean, North America, Central and Northeast Asia, South Asia and the Pacific, and Europe.

The «criteria applied by the judges will encompass innovation, creativity, reflection of local, natural and cultural heritage, and ecological efficiency, as well as the values of social interaction and participation which the United Nations holds in high regard», organizers said.

On September 16, 24 projects around the world were also announced as finalists for the Prix Versailles 2020 in the category of airports, campuses, passenger stations and sports.
