Spanish police recently arrested four Moroccan citizens for kidnapping two 25-year-old people in Alicante and demanding a ransom. Those arrested are also said to have threatened the relatives of their hostages.

Those arrested are aged between 25 and 35 years old. They will be prosecuted for kidnapping and belonging to a criminal organization.

Police said the incident dates back to the end of September, when the victims were beaten and forcibly driven in a vehicle on the highway between Alicante and Murcia. A second car was used as an escort, in order to escape police checkpoints.

The sister and mother of one of the hostages alerted the police. The complainants then said that in exchange for the release of their loved one, the kidnappers demanded money and threatened to end the victim's life, if the security forces were alerted. An intervention by several units of the Civil Guard then made it possible to locate the hostage and release the hostage.

It was at the time of the intervention that the police discovered that the complainant family was not the only victim of the criminal gang, as the relatives of the second hostage agreed to pay the ransom not alert the authorities.
