At least four people were wounded when an explosive device hit an international ceremony during the commemoration of the end of World War I, held on Wednesday, at a cemetery in the Saudi Arabian city of Jeddah, the French Foreign Ministry announced.

According to LCI, foreign diplomats attended the annual commemoration, held at a non-Muslim cemetery.

On the spot, an AFP photographer said Saudi police closed roads leading to the cemetery, while the injured are still being identified.

Wishing speedy recovery to the victims, the French embassy in the country spoke on Twitter, expressing its gratitude to the Saudi first responders «who courageously brought their help to those present at the scene».
