King Mohammed VI received a phone call from King Abdullah II of Jordan on Thursday, November 19, the royal cabinet said in a statement.
On this occasion, the Hashemite sovereign «welcomed the decisions taken by His Majesty the King to secure the movement of people and goods in the region of El Guerguerat in the Moroccan Sahara».
King Abdullah II expressed to King Mohammed VI his country's «wish» to open «a Consulate General in the Moroccan city of Laâyoune. The necessary arrangements for this purpose will be coordinated by the foreign ministries of the two countries», the same source specifies.

The upcoming inauguration of a Jordanian consular office in Laâyoune comes in the wake of the initiative taken by the United Arab Emirates on November 4. Other Arab monarchies are expected to follow suit Abu Dhabi and Amman.
