The coronavirus vaccine developed by Sinopharm unit China National Biotec Group Co. has 86% efficacy, according to trials conducted in the United Arab Emirates, wrote Bloomberg.

The results of the trials that included 31,000 volunteers in the UAE have found that the vaccine was «highly effective in preventing moderate and sever cases of Covid-19 and had no serious safety concern».

The announcement will allow the full public use of the vaccine in the country, the UAE Health Ministry said. With an efficacy rate of 86%, Sinopharm’s vaccine ranks among the workd’s most affective ones in the world.

«While mRNA vaccines from Pfizer Inc. and Moderna Inc. showed higher efficacy of over 90%, those present distribution challenges for some nations as they require deep freeze facilities and trucks. CNBG’s vaccine can be transported and stored at normal refrigerated temperatures», the same source added.

The efficacy rate of Snopharm’s vaccine remains higher than that of AstraZeneca Plc and the University of Oxford, which was found to be 62% efficient.

Morocco is one of the countries that will order the Chinese vaccine to conduct a massive vaccination campaign against the coronavirus. The Kingdom will kick off the campaign with Sinopharm, the Ministry said.
