It was through its representative in Washington that the Polisario said it «regretted» the announcement of the United States, which recognized on Thursday Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara.
«We regret the decision taken by President Trump, but the reality is that Morocco occupies part of the territory of an African Union member state. Such a decision will not change the status of the territory», Mouloud Said declared.
«The Saharawi people cannot be used as a commodity in international diplomatic transactions. The Saharawi people will continue with their determination to fight until the end the occupation and respect of the African Union Charter».
The Polisario «government» also issued a statement denouncing the United States' decision, calling it «a flagrant violation of the United Nations Charter and international resolutions, hindering the efforts of the international community aimed at achieving a peaceful solution to the conflict».
«This position comes at a time when the Moroccan occupier torpedoed the ceasefire with its flagrant aggression of November 13, 2020», reports SPS.
