Reacting to the normalization agreement between Morocco and Israel, Moroccan Islamist association Al Adl Wa Al Ihssane (AWI) said on Friday that US President Donald Trump «refused to leave the White House without passing his shameful Zionist plan to drag Morocco into the normalization swamp».
In a press release sent to Yabiladi, the Jamaa denounced the «condemnable» announcement of normalization with the «Zionist entity», which constitutes «an attack on the Palestinian cause, a disappointment for the Palestinian people and an insult to the Moroccan people».
The statement criticizes the «illusion of believing that the Zionist entity and its American ally will support national unity», explaining that they «carry the project of fragmentation and division of countries, by starting wars, stoking ethnic and sectarian conflicts and playing on contradictions and political blackmail».
It is «naive to believe that normalization with the Zionist entity is a way to advance development goals and interests», claimed the body, citing the «example of Egypt» and other countries.
The same source denounces what it claims was a «unilateral and incalculable step which will negatively affect the Palestinian cause, and will cost Morocco dearly in its history, its stability, its future and its regional relations».
«Morocco has let go of the just cause of Palestine, and the Moroccan people will not accept this link between this lost deal of normalization and the Sahara question», the Islamist organization concludes.
