Abu Dhabi-based developer Imkan has been awarded a contract to build the first open-air shopping mall in Morocco. The AED134 million contract (around MAD 326.6 million) was struck with Bymaro, a subsidiary of Bouygues Batiment International and a feature of Imkan’s Rabat-based flagship, Arabian Business reported.
The 33,000 sq m mall will be located in downtown Rabat and will be home to international franchises, a multiplex cinema F&B outlets and a food court. The mall will be surrounded by a residential area, which will be built by Sogea Maroc, a subsidiary of the French Group Vinci.
The new mall, dubbed Le Carousel Mall, will be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2022. It has been designed by architect Ernesto Klingenberg of Spanish design firm, L35.
