Algeria’s Foreign Minister Sabri Boukadoum had a phone call Wednesday with Mikhail Bogdanov, the special representative of the President of Russia for the Middle East and African countries, and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Moscow announced Thursday.

The Sahara issue was one of the topics discussed by the two diplomats. «They addressed the problems of implementation of the relevant resolutions of the United Nations Security Council on the settlement of Western Sahara», indicates the same source.

This phone call comes one day after signing the Joint Declaration between Morocco, the United States and Israel, laying the solid foundations for cooperation in all fields between the three States.

Mikhail Bogdanov, an Arabic speaker, is the privileged interlocutor of Algerians and members of the Polisario.

He also criticized the US recognition of Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara on December 10 by Donald Trump. «It is a unilateral decision that goes beyond international law and the UN Security Council resolutions that the Americans themselves voted for. There are relevant decisions and an international mission to organize a referendum in Western Sahara», he said.
