Following the formalization of diplomatic relations between Morocco and Israel, the two heads of state spoke by telephone on Friday. King Mohammed VI recalled the strong and special links between the Jewish community of Moroccan descent and the Moroccan monarchy.
«The Sovereign also reiterated the consistent, constant and unchanged position of the Kingdom of Morocco on the Palestinian Question as well as the Kingdom's pioneering role in promoting peace and stability in the Middle East».
King Mohammed VI welcomed «the reactivation of cooperation mechanisms between the Kingdom of Morocco and the State of Israel, and the resumption of regular contacts, within the framework of peaceful and friendly diplomatic relations».
For his part, the Israeli Prime Minister «assured His Majesty of his determination to implement all the commitments made, according to a precise implementation schedule». Benjamin Netanyahu also invited King Mohammed VI to visit Israel. The two heads of state agreed to continue contacts to establish the normalization of relations.
The trilateral declaration between the Kingdom of Morocco, the United States of America and the State of Israel, signed before the Sovereign on December 22, constitutes the frame of reference for the development and evolution of said relations.
