This week, Moroccan security forces intercepted a drone loaded with drugs bound for Ceuta, during an operation in Fnideq. The drugs, prepared to be transferred in small quantities, were also seized near the border between Morocco and the Spanish enclave, El Faro de Ceuta reports.

Moroccan authorities have opened an investigation to identify the network responsible for this trafficking, and to determine the potential relation it may have with other drones recently seized while smuggling hashish to Ceuta. The same source also recalls that, last October, the Spanish Civil Guard identified one of these devices which fell into the void due to an eventual breakdown or the inability to support the 4-kilo load it was carrying.

El Faro de Ceuta estimates that drug trafficking by drones is «a booming activity since the border was closed» between Ceuta and Morocco, last March, because of the sanitary crisis.
