An official delegation of Moroccan officials arrived, Monday, in Israel. The visit is meant to further establish ties between Rabat and Tel Aviv, a Moroccan diplomatic source told Israeli news TV i24News.
Said visit comes only days after a US-Israeli delegation landed in Morocco, signed a joint agreement with Morocco and was received by King Mohammed VI.
According to the same source, the Moroccan delegation «will work with Israeli counterparts on issues including launching direct flights between the two countries and establishing embassies».
On Saturday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced in a video shared on his Twitter account that Moroccan officials will visit Israel this week.
«We agreed that the Moroccan delegation will come here at the start of the week in order to advance it all», he reported. His statement comes after he held a phone call with King Mohammed VI on Friday.
For the record, Morocco agreed earlier in December to reestablish ties with Israel in a deal brokered by the United States. The step came as the Trump administration recognized Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara.
