The director of Marrakech Sofitel hotel, as well as the manager of its nightclub, have been arrested for not complying with health measures during New Year’s Eve. Celebrating the start of 2021, the hotel hosted a gathering that included 70 people.
The two men breached the night curfew, imposed by the authorities throughout the country to avoid the spread of the new coronavirus.
Neglecting a first notice and a reminder of the measures adopted by the local authorities, the manager of the nightclub was arrested when police raided the venue on Thursday night at around 11 pm, according to Alyaoum 24.
The hotel manager was arrested the next morning. The two men were released on bail. This operation took place in a context marked by numerous interventions by local authorities in restaurants and bars, some of which had their alcohol licenses withdrawn for breaching health measures.
