Hours after Donald Trump supporters stormed the Capitol, US lawmakers have certified Joe Biden’s presidential win.

The move came as a mob, encouraged by President Trump, marched to the building and stormed it. Four people died in the attack, which resulted in suspending a Congress session.

The session was resumed later on Wednesday, allowing lawmakers to count and confirm electoral votes, BBC reports.

The rampage started as two Democrats won Senate seats in elections in Georgia, shifting the balance in Congress to Democrats. The session certified that Biden won by 306 votes to Trump’s 232.

Following rampage, President Trump urged protesters to go home, «while continuing to make false claims of electoral fraud», the same source said. As a result, Twitter and Facebook froze his accounts.

For the record, Joe Biden is expected to be inaugurated on January 20.
