The Polisario Front condemned, Wednesday, the visit of Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs David Schenker to the cities of Laayoune and Dakhla earlier in January.

The separatist movement described this trip as an «attempt to deceive international public opinion by opening consulates and organizing visits, and events in Western Sahara».

The supporters of Brahim Ghali have «warned» against the «Moroccan policy» which «involves foreign international parties in its war against the Saharawi people», the same source claimed.

The Front reiterated, at the same time, its «rejection of the US recognition of Morocco’s sovereignty over the Western Sahara».

For the record, the Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs arrived in Morocco last weekend. After visiting Laâyoune on Saturday where he notably attended the inauguration of the TIBU Laayoune Center, Schenker flew to Dakhla to visit the premises of the future Consulate General.
