For the first time since the signing of several agreements between Israel and Arab countries, including Morocco, the energy ministers of the kingdom, Israel, Sudan, Egypt, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and the United States attended an online meeting on Thursday evening.

Alongside his Arab counterparts, Aziz Rabbah has indeed spoken with the Israeli Minister of Energy, Yuval Steinitz. A meeting that follows several other talks held between Moroccan and Israeli officials since the kingdom normalized relations with Israel last month. But this is the very first event bringing together a Justice and Development Party (PJD) minister and an Israeli official.

«The historic conference was held in the wake of the successful meeting last month in Abu Dhabi that included the energy ministers from Israel, the UAE, Bahrain and the US», wrote Israel Hayom. The ministers decided to meet for a second time and expand their energy partnerships to include Morocco and Sudan, having recently normalized relations with Israel, and also Egypt, which leads the Eastern Mediterranean Gas Forum (EMGF), the same source explains.

«The ministers discussed matters pertaining to oil and natural gas, energy efficiency, renewable energy, research and development. They also discussed the ways to improve national security, economic prosperity and further investment in infrastructure and technology», the same source concluded.
