At least 87 sub-Saharan migrants managed, on Tuesday morning around 7:30 am, to cross the border separating Morocco and Melilla. According to Civil Guard, cited by El Faro de Melilla, the total number of migrants who attempted to cross the border amount to 150 Sub-Saharan migrants.

The same source reported that a migrant was taken to the hospital due to his injuries, while a member of the Civil Guard had minor injuries in his ankle.

The government delegation also confirmed the incident, explaining that «thanks to the rapid intervention of the Moroccan security forces and the Civil Guard, with the collaboration of the national police and the local police, 87 migrants finally managed to access Melilla».

The same source said that 78 Sub-Saharans were transferred to the Temporary Reception Center for Immigrants (CETI), where they are treated, while the others are in hospital, due to various injuries.

This attempt is the second largest in number after that of August 19, when 300 migrants attempted to cross the border. 30 of them succeeded in their attempt.
