King Mohammed VI received, Wednesday at the royal palace in Fez, Emirati Foreign Affairs Minister Abdellah Ben Zayed, who was carrying a message from the Crown Prince Mohamed Ben Zayed.

During this meeting, the talks focused on bilateral relations between the two countries, MAP reported. The King’s adviser Fouad Ali El Himma and Foreign Affairs Minister Nasser Bourita attended the hearing.

Relations between Rabat and Abu Dhabi are improving, especially after the phone call that brought together the sovereign and the crown prince on October 27, 2020. Mohamed Ben Zayed told King Mohammed VI then that he is planning to open a consulate in Laayoune. A promise that was met on November 4.

The United Arab Emirates' foreign minister took part in the ministerial conference organized last week by Morocco and the United States to support the autonomy plan for the Sahara.

This meeting comes as Joe Biden was sworn in as President of the United States. The United Arab Emirates was the first Arab country to establish diplomatic relations with Israel in August 2020. Morocco joined the group on December 10.
