The US newly appointed Secretary of State Antony Blinken held talks with Israeli Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi, Wednesday, in the highest-level contact yet between Israel and the new American administration. The two officials discussed «expanding the circle of peace, the Iranian threat and other issues», the Israeli Foreign Ministry said.

Antony Blinken «welcomed the Abrahamic Agreements which were signed in recent months between Israel, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Sudan and Morocco», i24news reported.

«Our commitment to Israel’s security is sacrosanct, and I look forward to working with the Foreign Minister and others toward our common goals», the new US Secretary of State said on his Twitter.

The US administration is trying to reassure Israel about normalization agreements, after its decision to suspend the sale of arms to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and F-35 fighters to the United Arab Emirates.
