Zineb El Rhazoui and Aminatou Haidar nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize

Former journalist for satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo, French-Moroccan Zineb El Rhazoui are among those nominated for this year’s Nobel Peace Prize. The journalist and writer has stirred controversy in the recent years for her comments against Islam and Islamism. In November 2019, she said on CNews channel that «the police must shoot real bullets» on young people from working-class neighborhoods.

Zineb El Rhazoui was also nominated, along with the American Committee to Protect Journalists, the Hong Kong Free Press news site, the United States-based International Fact-Verification Network and Reporters Without Borders. (RSF), according to a Reuters.

The press agency indicates that the list of nominations also includes the pro-Polisario activist Aminatou Haidar, former president of Collective of Sahrawi Human Rights Defenders (CODESA), for her independence campaign in favor of the creation of a republic in Western Sahara.

The same source reports that former US President Donald Trump is also nominated, as are NATO, the International Space Station (ISS) under NASA and the International Scout Movement.
