A Moroccan diplomat accredited in Algeria withdrew from a conference devoted to the Arab Maghreb union. The meeting was organized Tuesday by the Algerian newspaper Echaab and was marked by the presence of the secretary general of the Arab Maghreb Union Parliament, Algeria’s Said Mokadem.

The Moroccan diplomat left the conference to protest against a question asked by a journalist on Morocco’s resumption of diplomatic ties with Israel, Algerian media wrote.

The diplomat considered the issue as «an attack on Morocco», adding that he attended the meeting «in good faith». A presence that comes barely three days after the episode of Echorouk TV.

This withdrawal did not however prevent Mokadem from condemning the Moroccan decision, calling it «unilateral». He believes that «Morocco has initiated the normalization of relations with a country considered as an enemy by the Arab League».
