A Moroccan dies in Brazil after tragic wingsuit flying accident

An American national of Moroccan origin practicing wingsuit flying died on Saturday in the mountain of Pedra da Gávea in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil). 42-year-old Salsabil Bennani fell from the Pedra da Gávea, a monolithic mountain in Tijuca Forest, Rio de Janeiro, at 12:40 pm, according to Brazilian newspaper Extra.

Search operations found the dead body of the Moroccan after two hours. The body of the deceased was «taken to the Maritime Fire Group in Barra, where it was examined and then sent to the Forensic Institute», added the same source.

Two witnesses were heard by the police, while the American consulate was informed of the tragedy. According to the first elements collected, the parachute did not open.

Salsabil Bennani lived in North Carolina, where he worked for 22 years at the American Bank. Until his death, he held the post of vice president of security.
