Jordan to open consulate in Laayoune

The process of installing consular offices in the major cities of the Sahara continues. Jordan is preparing to inaugurate, on Thursday, March 4, its consulate general in Laayoune, indicates Saharazoom.

The Jordanian and Moroccan foreign ministers, Ayman Safadi and Nasser Bourita, will chair the opening ceremony, the same source said.

For the record, it was during a phone call, dated November 19, that King Abdellah II announced to King Mohammed VI the decision of his country to join the group of 21 states that have already opened a diplomatic representation in the Sahara.

Laayoune hosts consulates of the United Arab Emirates, operational since November 4, and Bahrain inaugurated on December 14.
