Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight, has started filming a new drama this week in Morocco. According to KFTV, the new series is based on bestselling writer Ben Macintyre’s book «SAS: Rogue Heroes» and will be delivered to BBC One. The series tells the story of the creation of  the Special Forces unit during World War II and stars Connor Swindells, Jac Allen, Soa Boutella and Dominic West.

Morocco has been chosen for the scenes taking place in Cairo and the Middle East. «I am really excited to be gathering together the very best of a new generation of British and international talent to tell this remarkable story. The people who are depicted and who did such extraordinary things were young, in their twenties, and we have made a conscious decision to cast people of the same age», Steven Knight said. «We enter this project with a spirit of adventure and believe our young and talented actors will do justice to this period of history», he added.

The new series is directed by Tom Shankland and produced by Stephen Smallwood, Karen Wilson, Martin Haines and Emma Kingsman-L produce for Kudos alongside Tommy Buln for the BBC.

KFTV recalls that Morocco is often used for the Middle East and Desert regions, as the country launched tax incentives in 2018 and hosted high profile productions like «The Old Guard», «Black Widow» and «John Wick 3».
