Covid-19 in Morocco : 453 new infections and 4,080,009 people vaccinated as of Wednesday

453 new coronavirus cases were recorded in Morocco during the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of Covid-19 infections in the country to 487,286. 4,080,009 people have received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine so far, while 854,274 people have received the second.

530 new recoveries were recorded during the same period, bringing the total number of recoveries to 473,738.

10 deaths were recorded in Morocco in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of Covid-19-related deaths to 8,705. 5 of these deaths were recorded in Casablanca-Settat, 2 in the Oriental region, 2 in Souss-Massa and 1 in Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceima.

The country has 4,843 active cases, including 406 in critical conditions. 23 of them are on ventilators.

As for the geographic distribution of the new cases, Casablanca-Settat leads the way with 283 infections: 215 in Casablanca, 21 in Nouaceur, 21 in Mohammedia, 12 in El Jadida, 8 in Berrechid, 3 in Settat and 3 in Benslimane. Next comes Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceima with 37 cases: 15 in Tanger-Assilah, 8 in Al Hoceima, 7 in Tétouan, 3 in Chefchaouen 2 in Larache, 1 in M'Diq-Fnideq and 1 in Ouazzane.

The Oriental follows with 29 cases: 19 in Oujda-Angad, 6 in Nador, 2 in Taourirt, 1 in Berkane and 1 in Figuig. In addition, 29 infections were identified in Rabat-Salé-Kénitra: 10 in Salé, 6 in Sidi Kacem, 5 in Rabat, 5 in Kénitra and 3 in Skhirat-Témara.

Marrakech-Safi recorded 27 cases: 23 in Marrakech and 4 in Essaouira. Souss-Massa, for its part, identified 24 infections: 12 in Agadir-Ida-Ou-Tanane, 8 in Inzegane-Ait Melloul and 4 in Taroudant.

There are also 6 confirmed cases in Beni Mellal-Khénifra (3 in Beni Mellal and 3 in Fqih Bensaleh), 6 in Drâa-Tafilalet (3 in Errachidia, 2 in Midelt and 1 in Zagora) and 6 in the province of 'Oued Ed-Dahab (Dakhla-Oued Ed-Dahab).

Finally, 4 cases were identified in Fès-Meknes (2 in Meknes, 1 in Fez and 1 in Taounate), while an infection was confirmed in Boujdour (Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra) and another in Tan Tan (Guelmim -Oued Noun).
