Health Minister Khalid Ait Talek announced, Thursday, that Morocco has ordered 1 million doses of Russia’s Sputnik V vaccine, which was authorized for use by the country’s National Vaccination Committee.

Interviewed by the Spanish news agency EFE, the Minister said that the doses will be delivered to Morocco in two batches in March and April, depending in the availability of the Russian manufacturer.

Morocco, which has already vaccinated more than 4 million people, has added the Russian vaccine Sputnik V to its vaccination strategy, which already includes those of AstraZeneca and Sinopharm. The kingdom is also «committed to acquire soon» the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, the Minister said.

Earlier this week, the National Technical and Scientific Advisory Committee on Vaccination gave the green light to the Johnson & Johnson and Sputnik V vaccines. They must receive soon an emergency use authorization from the Moroccan authorities.
