Saudi Arabia has announced changes to its Kafala system, a sponsorship system used to monitor migrant laborers. The country plans to give foreign workers more flexibility, allowing them to switch jobs without employers’ permission, aljazeera reported.

In November, Saudi Arabia’s Human Resources and Social Development announced plans to amend the Kafala system. The plan is to create an attractive job market, boost work environment.

The new amendment will help migrant workers will be able to change jobs during the validity of their contract with the exception of notifying their employers within a set timeframe. They will aso be exempt from exit authorization.
