Figuig : Algerian television censors the comments of Moroccan farmers

Algerian public television, ENTV, addressed the situation of Moroccan farmers in El Arja in a caricatured and deceptive manner. A team went on-site to produce a report and collect «testimonies» from Moroccan farmers.

In a crude montage, all the statements that do not serve the official Algerian narrative have disappeared. The video, which contains testimonies, was edited in a way that made the farmers of Figuig sound as if they accept the decision. The journalist even shows that Moroccan farmers are «grateful for Algeria's humanitarian gesture». 

Along with the Algerian public television report, APS also spoke about the subject after several days of silence. «The local Algerian authorities have closed the exits used by drug trafficking criminal gangs near Ouahat Laaroda in the Daïra of Beni Ounif (Wilaya of Béchar)», writes the official news agency. A decision presented as necessary for «the security of its border strip, following failures in the exploitation of Algerian plots of land by Moroccan citizens in Ouahat Laaroda».
