After he froze his membership at the Justice and Development Party (PJD), former Head of Government Abdelilah Benkirane said, Thursday, that he backtracked on his plan to cut ties with the party’s secretary-general Saadeddine El Othmani and other PJD members.
In a new handwritten letter posted on his Facebook page, Benkirane announced that «following the intervention of Abderrahim Chikhi (president of the Unity and Reform Movement, editor's note) and Dr. Azzeddine Youssef», he decided to respond favorably to their request and «make a U-turn» on his former decision.
On the other hand, Benkirane maintained the freezing of his membership. A decision he took to protest against the bill on legalizing cannabis for therapeutic use.
This «reconciliation» is announced two days before the holding of a new extraordinary session of the PJD national council, scheduled for March 20 and 21.
