Preparation for the «African Lion 2021» military exercise, scheduled for June, is underway. On Saturday, the southern zone of the Royal Armed Forces, in Agadir, hosted a coordination meeting between Moroccan officers, their American counterparts, as well as those of other countries, according to Ahdath Al Maghribia.
«This year’s military exercise is marked by the United States recognition of Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara. For the first time, these military operations will take place in the southern provinces, in Tan Tan, Mahbes and Dakhla», the same source reported.
The «African Lion 2021», which will see the participation of thousands of soldiers from Morocco, the United States but also Tunisia, Senegal, Ghana and other partner countries, is considered the largest joint military maneuver in Africa. The number of participants will increase from 5,000 to 8,000 soldiers this year.
For the record, the coronavirus pandemic dictated the cancellation of the 2020 edition scheduled for March 23 to April 3 in Morocco.
