To celebrate Earth Day, commemorating the Palestinian people every March 30 and marking the events of 1976, demonstrations announced by activists from the Moroccan Front for the Support of Palestine and Against Normalization were prohibited in several cities across the country. «In Morocco, the ban was implemented in Rabat, Casablanca, El Jadida, Khénifra, Guercif and Beni Taghjijt», journalist and activist Salaheddine Lemaizi wrote on his Twitter account.

This comes after the authorities banned a sit-in by nurses in Rabat. In a statement, the authorities explained that this decision was made following «the extension of health measures to limit the spread of the new coronavirus».

Earlier in March, 15 Moroccan political, trade union and associative bodies had agreed to set up a framework «aimed at overthrowing and resisting normalization» with Israel. They have thus set up a «Moroccan Front in support of Palestine and against normalization» and elected a national secretariat made up of 17 members.
